We are seeking a talented and driven Software Engineering Lead Developer to join our ESG & Climate Application Development team in Budapest. In this role, you will collaborate with global, cross-functional teams to design, build, and evolve our leading-edge ESG, Climate, and Net-Zero solutions.
Deliver new features for existing platforms and next-generation ESG & Climate applications.
Monitor, analyze, and optimize application performance and scalability.
Collaborate closely with Product Management, Research, QA, DevOps, and Infrastructure teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
Mentor and lead by example a software engineering team working with Python and REST API frameworks (FastAPI, Flask, Django) on a cloud-based, big-data infrastructure.
Design and implement robust, secure, and scalable data-driven applications using modern cloud technologies.
Champion test-driven development and partner with QA, UI/UX, Product Owners, and Architects to ensure high-quality outcomes.
Ensure on-time delivery of reliable, enterprise-grade software solutions.
Demonstrate strong debugging, troubleshooting, and system-level thinking.
Communicate effectively across teams and stakeholders and lead by example.
Advocate for sustainable, efficient, and open-source-based architecture and tooling.
Strong hands-on experience with Python and numerical computing libraries such as NumPy and Pandas.
Proficiency in designing and developing RESTful APIs using FastAPI, Flask, or Django.
Experience working with SQL and NoSQL databases, including schema design and optimization.
Familiarity with data-intensive applications and scalable, cloud-native architectures.
Solid understanding and application of software testing frameworks (e.g., pytest, unittest, BDD) and CI/CD practices.
Proficient with Git and modern version control workflows.
Practical experience with Azure Databricks, Spark, Polars, or similar analytics platforms.
Hands-on experience with cloud platforms (Azure, Google Cloud) and building batch/ETL/integration pipelines.
Experience designing, developing, and maintaining microservices in a cloud environment.
Understanding of DevOps and security best practices.
Exposure to or experience with open-source software ecosystems.
Experience using AI/LLM tools to solve business problems or enhance developer productivity is a plus.
Strong communication, collaboration, and problem-solving abilities.
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
