This is an exciting opportunity to join MSCI’s Private Assets business in a high-impact, client-facing sales role, with a primary focus on Real Assets while supporting opportunities across the broader Private Assets franchise. As a Salesperson, Private Assets based in Tokyo, Japan, you will play a key role in expanding MSCI’s footprint among asset owners, asset managers, REITs, real estate and infrastructure investors, private capital investors and managers, and other private-market participants in Japan.
With private markets increasingly focused on transparency, performance benchmarking, risk, capital flows, and portfolio analytics, this role offers the opportunity to help leading investors leverage MSCI’s Private Assets data, indexes, analytics, and portfolio solutions. The role will maintain a strong emphasis on real estate and infrastructure, while also supporting relevant private capital opportunities across the broader franchise.
You will drive the full sales cycle—from prospecting through closing and onboarding—while collaborating with global teams to deliver best-in-class client outcomes. This is a highly visible role contributing directly to MSCI’s Private Assets growth strategy in Japan, with Real Assets as a core area of focus.
Market Development & Revenue Generation
Lead new business origination across MSCI Private Assets, with a primary focus on real asset investors including asset owners, real estate managers, infrastructure investors, and developers, while developing opportunities with relevant private capital market participants across Japan.
Promote MSCI’s Private Assets solutions, with particular emphasis on real estate and infrastructure benchmarking frameworks, market data, performance analytics, portfolio risk tools, and climate analytics, alongside relevant private capital data, benchmarks, analytics, and portfolio solutions.
Identify and develop new business opportunities aligned with MSCI’s Private Assets commercial priorities, with Real Assets as the primary focus.
Meet and exceed sales targets through disciplined pipeline management and strategic account planning.
Strategic Sales Execution
• Manage the end-to-end sales process including qualification, needs assessment, presentation, pricing, negotiation, and contracting.
• Navigate complex decision-making structures within institutional real estate, infrastructure, and broader private-market investors.
• Maintain accurate forecasting and CRM documentation.
Client & Market Engagement
• Build trusted relationships with CIOs, Heads of Real Estate, Infrastructure and Private Markets, Investment Leads, Portfolio Managers, and Risk Officers.
• Represent MSCI at real estate, infrastructure, and broader private markets industry events.
• Stay informed on market trends, capital flows, regulatory changes, sustainability and climate developments impacting Japan’s real assets and broader private markets.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with Product Management, Research, Portfolio Services, and Client Coverage teams.
• Provide market feedback to enhance MSCI’s Private Assets solutions, particularly across Real Assets.
• Coordinate with regional and global teams to ensure seamless client experience.
• 5+ years of sales or business development experience in real estate, infrastructure, private markets, financial data, analytics, or asset management.
• Demonstrated success engaging institutional clients, particularly in real estate, infrastructure, or broader private markets.
• Strong understanding of real estate performance measurement, benchmarking, capital markets, or infrastructure investment analytics; familiarity with private capital markets is advantageous.
• Knowledge of real estate asset management, valuation, portfolio construction, or fund structures is highly desirable.
• Proven ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder sales processes.
• Excellent communication skills in Japanese and English.
• Bachelor’s degree required; MBA/CFA/CAIA preferred.
• Highly motivated self-starter with strong commercial acumen.
