Inside Sales Specialist – Sustainability & Climate

MSCI is looking for a motivated and commercially minded Inside Sales Specialist to help accelerate the growth of our Sustainability & Climate business, including our Carbon Markets solutions, across the Americas.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone who wants to build expertise at the intersection of sustainability, climate, financial markets, and technology while developing a career in a client-facing commercial role.

You’ll play an important role in identifying and developing new business opportunities across a diverse range of client segments, including asset managers, wealth managers, banks, and corporates. Working alongside MSCI’s Sustainability & Climate Sales Specialists, you’ll engage prospective and existing clients, understand their evolving sustainability and climate needs, introduce relevant MSCI solutions, and help turn opportunities into long-term client relationships.

The role offers significant exposure across MSCI, with close collaboration across Sales, Product, Marketing, Client Service, Operations, Legal, and Finance.

Your Key Responsibilities

What You’ll DoDrive New Business & Build Pipeline
  • Identify and engage prospective clients across key segments in the Americas through targeted prospecting and lead-generation activities.
  • Build relationships with new contacts and help expand MSCI’s presence within existing client organizations.
  • Qualify opportunities by understanding client needs, priorities, and use cases, and connecting them with relevant MSCI Sustainability & Climate solutions.
  • Initiate new opportunities, secure prospect meetings, and partner with Sales Specialists to execute account and territory strategies.
  • Manage a defined commercial target aligned with the broader Sustainability & Climate sales organization.
Engage & Educate Clients
  • Participate in meetings with prospective and existing clients to discuss sustainability and climate trends, evolving client needs, and MSCI’s latest solutions and capabilities.
  • Support pre-sales activities by providing relevant product information, sample data, analysis, and materials to help clients evaluate MSCI solutions.
  • Develop strong knowledge of MSCI’s Sustainability & Climate product suite, methodologies, and use cases to confidently address client questions and identify opportunities.
  • Help uncover additional needs within existing relationships and introduce solutions that can deliver greater value to clients.
Turn Market Insights into Commercial Opportunities
  • Partner with Marketing on targeted campaigns, prospecting initiatives, and lead-generation programs.
  • Conduct market, competitor, and prospect research to identify emerging opportunities and priority client segments.
  • Support campaign execution and tracking, translating market intelligence into actionable sales opportunities.
Own & Accelerate the Sales Process
  • Help drive opportunities through the full internal sales cycle, ensuring key steps and stakeholders remain aligned and deals continue moving forward.
  • Coordinate across Product, Legal, Finance, Operations, Marketing, and Client Service to support successful deal execution and closure.
  • Maintain strong pipeline discipline using CRM tools such as Salesforce, including forecasting, opportunity management, activity tracking, and pipeline hygiene.
  • Track and communicate key commercial metrics, including leads generated, meetings scheduled, conversion rates, and pipeline value.

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for a commercially minded, curious, and proactive professional who is excited to build expertise in sustainability, climate, and carbon markets while developing strong client relationships and driving business growth.

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Environmental Science, Sustainability, or a related field. An advanced degree, such as an MBA or master’s in Sustainability, Climate Science, or a related discipline, is a plus.
  • 2–4 years of experience in sales, inside sales, business development, or another client-facing commercial role. Experience with sustainability, climate risk, carbon markets, financial services, or data and analytics solutions is highly valued.
  • Demonstrated experience with prospecting, outbound client engagement, lead generation, and opportunity qualification.
  • Strong written and verbal communication and presentation skills, with the ability to translate complex, technical, or data-driven concepts into clear and compelling client conversations.
  • A proactive and organized approach, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and collaborate effectively across teams.
  • Commercially driven and comfortable working toward revenue goals, pipeline targets, forecasts, and performance metrics.
  • Strong attention to detail and a commitment to maintaining high-quality sales processes and CRM data.
  • Familiarity with CRM platforms such as Salesforce, as well as Microsoft Excel and/or other analytics and productivity tools.
  • Interest in using AI and emerging technologies to work smarter and more effectively. Experience with tools such as ChatGPT, Microsoft Copilot, or Claude is a plus.
