MSCI ESG Research LLC, a division of MSCI Inc., is seeking applicants for a 6-month internship position in Singapore to support the increasing demands for ESG and climate research in the Greater China market. This role offers an opportunity to participate in projects that analyze the latest trends in sustainable investment, providing sustainability research analysis to meet the needs of institutional investors and corporations, particularly in the rapidly growing Chinese market.
Throughout the internship, the ESG Research intern will, depending on their subject matter interests, background, and performance, assist with ESG & Climate research projects or be assigned research projects. Some examples include:
· Sector or industry-level ESG & Climate trends analysis
· Greater China ESG & Climate trends analysis
· Model review and enhancement
The ideal candidate should have a strong interest in sustainability investment topics and must be proficient in both English and Mandarin.
· Provide research support to senior analysts. Some examples are:
o Data collection and analysis, by working with many different types of data sources (i.e. company disclosure, government database, academic journals, and industry publications), types of information (i.e. quantitative data, regulatory information, ), topics or subject matters (i.e. climate transition, corporate governance, and privacy and data security) and types of analysis (i.e. rules-based analysis, statistical analysis, case studies, written summaries).
o Assist ESG ratings model review and enhancement
o Prepared tailored materials for audience in specific segments or markets
· Visualize and present research findings to the relevant internal/external stakeholders
· (Depending on the applicants’ subject matter interests, background and performance) will support ESG & Climate research projects and/or will be assigned one or two standalone research projects.
DESIRED EXPERIENCE
· Advanced degree in economics or sustainability-related field (masters or PhD) is preferred but not required;
· Strong background in climate transition, climate risks and modeling are preferred but not required;
· Previous internship experience in the sustainability field is preferred but not required. E.g.:
o Experience in sustainability/ESG Research or corporate social responsibility, or
o Relevant financial services experience that includes exposure to ESG investment, or
o Relevant public policy or academic or NGO experience
Skills
· Strong awareness of sustainability and climate trends/issues;
· Ability to multi-task;
· Can efficiently communicate/present research findings to internal/external stakeholders;
· Can work under the pressure of deadlines and deliver work on time.
· Efficient team player who communicates effectively and who can also work independently without constant supervision.
Qualifications
· Fluent in English and Mandarin Chinese
· Must be able to commit to a minimum of 3 days per week.
