Your Team Responsibilities

The MSCI Index Management Research (IMR) Team is a global client-centric research group that has full research ownership of all MSCI equity and multi-asset allocation indexes along with related frameworks in production throughout their lifecycle, whether flagship MSCI index products or client customized index solutions. This responsibility spans all factor, thematic, cap-weighted and sustainability & climate Indexes. The team is present in multiple locations across key regions.

The IMR group performs index policy research, index methodology consultations and is responsible for the oversight and insight into the rebalancing of MSCI indexes.
The group works closely with other groups within research (new index product development research, sustainability & climate research, factor research) as well as across the firm (data, technology, product, coverage) to implement the IMR agenda and benefits from the substantial resources and expertise across the global MSCI organization.

Your Key Responsibilities

As the scope of our foundational market-cap indexes now extends well beyond ACWI IMI, and amid heightened geopolitical volatility and market concentration, with increasing demand for cap-weighted strategies, these indexes require greater dedicated focus. In this context, you will play a senior role in the stewardship, enhancement, and strategic evolution of MSCI’s foundational market capitalization-weighted index families.

Provide strategic direction and oversight on the management, enhancement, and evolution of MSCI’s expanding market-cap index families, ensuring they remain robust, investable, scalable, and aligned with client needs and regulatory expectations.

Ensure deep understanding and rigorous application of expanding market-cap index methodologies, including consistent implementation of eligibility rules, free float adjustments, investability screens, and market classification frameworks, while incorporating relevant internal and external datasets where appropriate.

Take end-to-end responsibility for governance and quality oversight across the lifecycle of these methodologies, ensuring the highest standards of accuracy, transparency, and operational robustness in line with MSCI’s index governance framework and regulatory obligations, including oversight of rebalances and error mitigation.

Lead periodic strategic reviews and enhancements of expanding market-cap methodologies to maintain their global relevance, strengthen product-market fit, and address evolving market structure dynamics such as concentration risk, liquidity shifts, and geopolitical fragmentation.

Partner closely with technology, research, and platform teams to improve scalability, automation, and resilience of core index processes, contributing to platform enhancements that support efficient development and maintenance of MSCI’s foundational index ecosystem.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

• Ability to address complex methodological questions with pragmatic, rigorous, and scalable solutions
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills; ability to explain methodological concepts clearly and tell a compelling story
• Strong presentation skills, both spoken and visual
• High motivation for joining a dedicated, technically sophisticated, and globally distributed team
• 10+ years of full-time professional experience in index research, strategy, trading, and/or portfolio management
• Experience with other Asset Class and Structured Products would be an added value
