Role Category:

Your Team Responsibilities

MSCI's Private Assets Product team is building the technology and data infrastructure that will define the next era of private markets investing. The GP Solutions team focuses on the needs of general partners—private equity, growth equity, venture, and private credit managers—delivering data- and AI-enabled products that improve how GPs source opportunities, underwrite investments, monitor portfolios, and communicate with LPs.

As a Senior Associate on the GP Solutions team, you will take meaningful ownership of product initiatives—from structured client discovery through delivery and go-to-market—while contributing to the team's broader strategic roadmap. This role is designed for professionals who combine a solid understanding of private markets with the analytical and cross-functional skills to drive product outcomes in a complex, matrixed organization.

You will partner closely with a VP of Product Management, working with a high degree of autonomy on defined workstreams while developing the judgment and market expertise to take on expanded strategic responsibility over time. You will be a credible counterpart for both GP clients and internal partners across research, data, engineering, and commercial teams.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Contribute to the GP Solutions product roadmap by developing well-reasoned points of view on client priorities, competitive positioning, and feature sequencing.
  • Lead structured discovery with GP clients—including deal teams, operating partners, and investor relations professionals—to validate pain points and surface unmet needs.
  • Manage relationships with a defined set of strategic accounts, serving as a knowledgeable and trusted product counterpart.
  • Own end-to-end delivery of defined product initiatives, from requirements definition through launch, coordinating across UX, engineering, research, and data teams.
  • Write clear, detailed product requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria that enable engineering teams to execute with precision.
  • Drive BAU product intake, including structured prioritization of requests from Client Coverage and Sales, balancing responsiveness with long-term scalability.
  • Monitor post-launch performance through adoption metrics and client feedback, incorporating findings into ongoing roadmap refinement.
  • Support go-to-market planning and execution for new product launches, developing positioning materials and sales enablement collateral.
  • Build business cases to support prioritization decisions, including assessments of client demand, revenue potential, and implementation complexity.
  • Communicate clearly across levels—distilling complex product and market topics for both technical and non-technical audiences—and contribute to sprint planning, stakeholder updates, and governance forums.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

Required
  • Bachelor's degree in finance, economics, business, computer science, or a related field; advanced degree (MBA, CFA, CAIA) a plus.
  • Approximately 5–7 years of relevant experience in product management, investment management, financial services, management consulting, or a related function.
  • Demonstrated understanding of private markets—including private equity, venture capital, private credit, or fund of funds—through direct work experience or deep functional exposure.
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver product or analytical projects end-to-end with limited supervision.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience building business cases, synthesizing client research, and working with quantitative data.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills; comfortable presenting to senior internal and external stakeholders.
  • Experience working cross-functionally with technology, data, and commercial teams in a matrixed organization.
Preferred
  • Prior experience in a GP-facing role—at a private equity, growth equity, venture, or private credit firm, or in a product/advisory function serving GPs directly.
  • Familiarity with GP workflows across the investment lifecycle: deal sourcing, underwriting, portfolio monitoring, value creation, and LP reporting.
  • Experience with product management tools (e.g., Jira, Productboard, Confluence) and comfort with agile development methodologies.
  • Exposure to data and analytics platforms used in private markets (e.g., portfolio monitoring systems, benchmarking tools, data rooms).
  • Ability to engage substantively with MSCI's proprietary data, risk models, and AI-driven analytics as product inputs.
