Your Team Responsibilities

We are looking for a highly skilled, motivated, and service-oriented individual to lead our analytics sales activities across Japan.

The successful candidate will be responsible for originating new business as well as maintaining existing client relationships for MSCI's suite of Analytics products, encompassing both the Barra and RiskMetrics brands. The role entails positioning and closing sales of quantitative investment decision support tools with prospective clients and upselling existing clients. Analytics Sales Specialists leverage their in-depth knowledge of the risk and investment management process to identify needs and opportunities, working with Product Management to structure and propose enterprise solutions tailored to each client situation.

The role is highly visible, with involvement in all aspects of an account, including senior level engagement, product demonstrations, contract negotiation, sales closing, and ongoing relationship management. In this role, the individual will be responsible for executing the sales strategy, working closely with the Country Head of Japan alongside Analytics Client Consultants, Product Management, Legal, and Sales Operations. Compensation and title will be commensurate with experience.   

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Achieve targeted quarterly and annual revenue goals
  • Develop and execute on strategic sales plan
  • Develop strong sales pipeline
  • Lead client engagement, needs assessment, and solution pitches
  • High-level contact with clients/prospects and other major industry participants
  • Address client inquiries regarding products and solutions
  • Maintain accurate records regarding account visits, client conversations, finalised contracts
  • Work with other departments (Client service, Research, Product Management, Legal) to ensure that all client requests and inquiries are managed appropriately
  • Proactively solicit client feedback regarding new initiatives and future product development
  • Provide feedback from clients to Marketing, Sales, Research and Product Development groups

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

The successful candidate will have in depth experience of the financial services industry in Japan, with experience managing a team within a major financial institution, a financial services systems vendor or information provider.

  • Proven track record of building highly effective sales teams, including achieving sustained high revenue growth and profitability.
  • Strong technical, multi-asset class experience with understanding of complex derivatives products and portfolio analytics tools.
  • First class communication and presentation skills to senior level management as well as to team and direct reports.
  • First class understanding of analytics, risk and performance models
  • Excellent balance of strategy and process / execution.
  • Intellectual, commercial, persuasive, with high integrity in addition to the vision and entrepreneurial ability to inspire a culturally diverse team and to lead growth.
  • Collaborative team-oriented approach.
