Your Team Responsibilities

The Index Policy and Governance Lead is a senior leadership position responsible for driving regulatory engagement, index policy development, and the strategic direction of index research and framework initiatives across the APAC region. Based in Singapore, this role is critical to ensuring the firm’s equity index methodologies are aligned with evolving regulatory landscapes and market dynamics in key jurisdictions such as China, India, and Korea. This individual will lead a high-performing team of index researchers and serve as the senior point of contact for regulatory bodies, stock exchanges, and institutional stakeholders in the region.

Your Key Responsibilities

Index Research & Framework Development

  • Lead the development and maintenance of index policy frameworks, ensuring they are transparent, robust, and regionally relevant.
  • Oversee and contribute to research on index design, eligibility rules, and market accessibility.
  • Guide responses to consultations, support regional market classification assessments, and ensure compliance with global benchmark regulations.
  • Monitor geopolitical and regulatory developments, advising senior leadership on strategic implications.

Asset Owner and Manager Engagement

  • Serve as the primary policy contact for institutional investors, including sovereign wealth funds, pension plans, and asset managers, on matters related to benchmark methodology, governance, and policy rationale.
  • Drive adoption of firm indices through thought leadership, technical presentations, and collaborative policy discussions with clients.
  • Support sales and product teams in building trust with clients by articulating how index policy decisions align with investor needs, regulatory standards, and global best practices.
  • Proactively gather feedback from asset owners and managers to inform policy development and enhance benchmark credibility in the region.

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

Experience

  • 10+ years in index research, regulatory affairs, or capital markets, with demonstrated leadership in Asia.
  • Experience managing regional or global teams and delivering results in complex regulatory environments.
  • Proven track record in developing index methodologies or market classification policies.

Skills

  • Expertise in index design, market access policies, and benchmark regulation.
  • Strong leadership, communication, and relationship management skills.
  • Strategic thinker with excellent analytical and decision-making capabilities.
  • Ability to navigate sensitive regulatory and geopolitical considerations.
  • Language: Mandarin and English is a must
