Your Team Responsibilities

We are looking to hire an experienced and highly motivated finance professional for the Americas Legal Entity Controllership team. Based at the Company’s Chicago office and reporting to a Chicago based Executive Director in the Americas Legal Entity Control Group, this Vice President role will participate in various aspects of financial accounting and reporting for MSCI’s Americas legal entities, including the US, Canada, Mexico and Brazil, and will play a significant role in MSCI’s financial reporting processes both at a regional and global level.

The successful candidate will need to demonstrate strong technical GAAP accounting expertise, an ability to develop and improve accounting controls, and a proven track record in process improvement and automation, as well as an ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders both within and outside of Finance.

Your Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chicago based Executive Director as well as the overall Americas Regional Controller in New York with the management of the Americas Legal Entity Controller function, including management of the monthly accounting close for the region, legal entity and local statutory reporting, as well as supervision of staff in Monterrey or other remote locations;
  • Partner with Global Tax on the execution of tax planning activities; Collaborate with Global Tax and outside advisors on local income and indirect tax compliance for Canada, Mexico and Brazil;
  • Technical accounting analysis and preparation of accounting papers for significant transactions;
  • Review data on audit fee and other audit related materials for MSCI Audit Committee and Board of Directors meetings;
  • Participate in Legal Entity Controller function activities related to the planning and execution of corporate development activities (e.g. business acquisitions and divestitures);
  • Participate in projects impacting legal entities, Controller processes or Finance systems with a view to transforming the Company’s Finance processes through technology automation (e.g., RPA, AI);
  • Assist the America Regional Controller in initiatives to improve controls (e.g. possible implementation of new close management software and account reconciliation tool).
  • Support special projects such as M&A and partnerships

Your skills and experience that will help you excel

  • 9 – 15 years of finance and accounting experience including a mix of:
    • Public accounting experience at a big four accounting firm and corporate experience within a financial control role; US public company experience a plus;
  • A CPA is required
  • Strong operational accounting experience
  • Experience with SEC reporting, internal controls and GAAP research is a plus
  • Experience with automating technology such as ChatGPT, Alteryx, Uipath, Power BI, Power Query, Tableau, Qlikview, or other RPA tools.
