When Yana first interviewed at MSCI for an Analytics Client Consultant role a decade ago in London, she felt she was joining the big leagues.
“Having started my professional career at a small start-up in Bulgaria, I already knew of MSCI a long time before I applied.”
Over the next seven years, Yana flourished in the MSCI Analytics Consults Team, where she was promoted to manage a team overseeing all buy- and sell side analytics clients in the UK and Ireland.
“I had the opportunity to create a great team in the London office, and a lot of people are still here, still working at MSCI and looking after analytics clients in the region.”
In 2020, Yana decided to move back to her native Bulgaria. At the time, MSCI didn’t have an office there, so she decided to join Burgiss, a leading provider of data, analytics and technology solutions for investors in private assets.
“By 2023, Burgiss had been acquired by MSCI. While MSCI has historically excelled in liquid assets through data, benchmarks and analytics, we are now enhancing MSCI's capabilities with a market-leading private capital product line.”
Since the acquisition, Yana has been working within the newly formed MSCI Private Capital Solutions product team. Her role is to understand which services, products and workflows can be built or enhanced to meet our target client segments needs.
“When I was an Analytics Client Consultant, I was resolving very tactical problems, like calculating the risk of a client’s portfolio or modelling a certain asset. Now my role is much broader and more strategic.”
In her current role, Yana collaborates closely with colleagues across various functions and locations to bring new products and services to market. Despite working with different teams, the strong sense of trust enables them to achieve their goals together.
“One of the things I was most looking forward to about the acquisition was working with my colleagues at MSCI again. They are so knowledgeable and experienced and they always push you to the next level to develop, to do things better, to evolve.”
This culture is present across the whole firm, and it’s what makes MSCI the place to develop your potential, whatever your background is.
“This is an organization with so much diversity: you grow as a professional, but also as a human, because there are people coming with different ideas and backgrounds. MSCI is so much more than an employer: it gives you the opportunity to meet different people and build real friendships.”
