From the moment Jane graduated from university, she knew Private Capital was where she wanted to work. Starting her career in Client Services, she quickly found her niche. Now a Team Lead, Jane’s passion lies in growing her skills in entirely new areas: mentoring others, earning professional qualifications, and staying ahead of MSCI’s evolving product landscape.

"When I returned from a career break, an exciting opportunity opened up. I was tasked with setting up a Managed Services team in a new location: South Africa. It focused on client services, requiring in-depth product knowledge to help clients understand what we offer and how we can support them. We are the first point of contact to get initial client data onto the platforms, so doing it right is critical. That first year was an intense period of learning new skills.”

As the Team Lead for Managed Services in Private Capital Solutions, Jane balances two priorities: solving client challenges and supporting her team. While some problems are familiar, new and unexpected hurdles arise daily, keeping her work dynamic and rewarding.

“When Burgiss was acquired by MSCI, my role expanded significantly. We were exposed to more clients and the ability to offer them a broader range of solutions. It’s so interesting to learn how other people operate in similar roles, as we can incorporate new ideas into our processes. It’s given us deeper insights, broader capabilities, and, for me, more possibilities in my career path.”

Looking ahead, Jane is eager to deepen her knowledge of private equity. She is currently pursuing a professional qualification in alternative investments, with support from MSCI through funding for the program.

“This designation will allow me to branch out into different and more senior roles within client services. It’s a significant investment but at MSCI the focus is on supporting you to become the best version of yourself and fostering your growth to drive the future success of the business.”

MSCI’s support, combined with mentorship from senior women in the firm, has been pivotal in shaping Jane’s confidence. That’s why she finds it so important to support her own team’s development, too.

“I aim to be approachable and relatable. I was once was fresh out of varsity without a lot of knowledge of finance, so I extend the same grace and understanding to my team. Everyone learns, communicates and connects differently and that’s what makes us stronger. My own mentor always has time to take a call from me and offer guidance, and that support has been life changing, career altering. I want to provide the same for my team.”

For Jane, her role is about more than just solving problems—it’s about building meaningful connections, driving innovation, and empowering her team to succeed in a constantly evolving field.
