MSCI, Inc. seeks Senior Associate, Frontend Engineer in New York, NY to participate on MSCI ONE software engineering team and work with various stakeholders to develop and enhance the MSCI ONE software platform.
Work with stakeholders including MSCI ONE Product Management, Design, Ops, and various Business units engg/Product management teams (BU teams) including ESG Research, Index Insights and external technology groups. Propose and develop new ideas and enhancements into the Control Tower Portfolio of software products catering to the MSCI ONE platform scalability based on user requirements and opportunities for innovation. Refine and develop highly responsive micro-frontend applications, components for data visualization and data-intensive interactive reporting, advancing MSCI ONE, ESG, Index business and end user experiences and improving client- side UI/UX integration using MSCI ONE next gen platform, for the MSCI back-end applications and services. Coordinate with business users and conduct user-acceptance tests for delivery of quality applications. Own new software feature development and services delivery and participate in production deployments. Analyze user needs and software requirements to determine feasibility of design within time and cost constraints. Modify existing software to correct errors, adapt it to new hardware, or upgrade interfaces and improve performance. Confer with systems analysts, engineers, programmers, and others to design systems and obtain information on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces. Design, develop and modify software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcomes and consequences of design. Drive development of cloud-hosted scalable modern applications.
REQUIREMENTS: Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field and three (3) years of experience in the job offered or related occupation: utilizing software engineering experience developing and deploying high-quality code; demonstrating understanding of core web development fundamentals, including HTML and CSS; utilizing JavaScript or TypeScript in developing enterprise-level applications. One (1) year of experience must include working with frameworks including React or Angular; utilizing experience with backend integration with RESTful APIs; working with unit-testing frameworks including Jest or Jasmine; utilizing modern authorization mechanisms including OAuth; utilizing front-end development tools including Babel, Webpack, and NPM; utilizing experience working with Node.js; working with version control and continuous integration (CI) through GitHub; working with cloud computing platforms including Azure or AWS; contributing on all phases of the software development lifecycle including defining scope, gathering estimates, translating requirements into technical specifications, and executing against a delivery plan in an agile scrum; participating in code reviews to provide guidance on engineering best practices and compliance with development procedures; identifying opportunities for process improvements in a coding environment and implementing them; and collaborating with stakeholders to understand user needs and requirements. Offered salary is between $140,380 and $146,300 per year. 40 hours per week. Telecommuting and/or working from home may be permissible pursuant to company policies.
