MSCI Mumbai Office Redesign

As MSCI’s Future of Work combines in-person collaboration and remote work, we have been re-evaluating our traditional office setups, looking towards creating spaces that conform to the needs of the new normal, keeping our clients in the focus and allowing our employees to deliver exceptional results.

Our recently redesigned Mumbai office demonstrates our ongoing commitment to providing unique, inviting spaces in our offices that foster belonging, support collaboration, and connect employees and clients to our culture. Building out the new office involved reconfiguring the physical layout to incorporate a mix of open spaces and private zones, where employees can choose their preferred work environment based on their tasks and preferences. The new office space is supported by advanced technology to facilitate seamless collaboration between remote and in-office employees.

We strongly believe that we have a responsibility and commitment to our clients, employees and the communities in which we operate in to seek to minimize our impact on the environment. The base building is LEED platinum rated, which means it caters to the highest sustainability standards of construction and operation. The space includes recycled products, locally sourced materials, energy saving light and water installations. Additionally, the entrance area features decoration that educates and raises awareness on climate issues, showcasing India’s climate strips and photos depicting sustainability practices in India.

Careful consideration was given to seating and furniture to accommodate all abilities as well. In consultation with an external design expert, we implemented access-friendly doors and furniture, special lighting, inclusive rest rooms, wider passage spaces, room names in Braille, parking spaces for differently abled and much more. The renovated office also has an All-Abilities themed room equipped with height-adjustable tables, special sit/stand chairs, and paintings by artists with disabilities. We believe that an inclusive workplace is essential for our collective success, and we're committed to creating a place where people of all abilities can come together to collaborate, innovate, and contribute.

The highlights of the new floor are the spaces designed around themes. The cafeteria area is incorporating elements of nature and wall graphic showcasing diverse agriculture of India. The stadium seating alludes to the local geography, using the undulating path of the Vasai Creek as inspiration for its shape. Our various ERG’s have their own unique spaces as well: the Pride and Allies themed room is a bright and bold environment to celebrate MSCI’s pride community, raise awareness and educate others on past and current initiatives, while the room of our Women’s Leadership Forum is a creative, inviting space to collaborate and host events surrounding women leadership in technology and innovation.

The creation of the new office space was a true collaborative effort between the New York-based Studio For and MSCI’s Corporate Services team, who helped with ensuring that MSCI’s design language remains at the center through every step of the process.
