MSCI Partners with Climate TRACE

MSCI is proud to partner with Climate TRACE to help advance the financial sector’s ability to assess and manage transition risks and opportunities by enhancing transparency around real-world greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions.

This collaboration combines Climate TRACE’s asset-level GHG emissions data with MSCI GeoSpatial Asset Intelligence to deliver deeper granularity of emissions performance of individual assets and companies across global portfolios. With this enhanced visibility, investors and financial institutions can better identify high-emitting assets, compare performance and prioritize new investments for projects and decisions aligned with emissions reduction goals.

The integration of Climate TRACE data into MSCI Carbon Markets aims to pave the way for new product innovation. For example, it enables the development of tools that calculate localized corporate obligations aligned with regulations, offering a quantitative view of issuer-level transition risks from a pricing and regulatory perspective.

Together, these capabilities can support a clearer picture of the interplay between location-based GHG emissions, regulatory exposure, and financial risk to support informed decision-making as market participants navigate the energy transition.
