MSCI is seeking a MAC Reference Data Analyst to join the Production Analytics team. The team enables the daily production of timely, complete, relevant, and accurate reference data on over four million market instruments as well as corporate actions on over eight hundred thousand time series covering both exchange-traded and over-the-counter (where applicable) products globally.
Research and acquire in depth knowledge of the market data content models of upstream suppliers to MSCI for all asset classes covered by the global security master (fixed income, equity, commodity futures and options, warrants, derivatives, CDX, etc.).
Develop business logic required to integrate upstream data feeds to a normalized set of terms and conditions data models.
Work closely with the development team in the implementation and maintenance of these business rules.
Monitor quality of terms and conditions data on a daily basis. Where there are source content discrepancies and/or inconsistencies, override, where necessary, data in the golden copy and coordinate the resolution of issues with market data suppliers.
Maintain, re-engineer and develop efficient processes to support the daily production of reference data.
Investigate reference data quality issues and content exceptions on behalf of MSCI risk clients, standalone reference data clients, and Client Data Platform clients.
Investigate client questions and issues and assess data quality.
Manage the “language” of differences between RML (RiskMetrics Analytics Markup Language) mapping specification for Riskserver (RiskMetrics analytics engine) and the DMX Service data model (DMX Market Data Language).
Assist the development of derived data sets dependent on terms and conditions market data.
Work with the Research group on vetting analytic models with an eye toward the proper application and usage of market data content.
Desired experience and qualifications:
Master’s degree or foreign equivalent in Computer Science, Statistics, Finance,Engineering (any) or a related quantitative field.
1-3 years of experience in job offered or related position: managing market data content including equities, equity derivatives, mutual funds, fixed income, government and corporate debt, structured debt, commodity futures, commodity derivatives, and credit derivatives; working with legal entity data and data models; working with vendor market data architectures and projects.
Working with large vendor market data architectures and products including Reuters Triarch/RDF, Reuters Datascope Equities and Onsite Fixed Income EJV, and S&P Compustat/Research Insight.
Basic MSSQL/Oracle knowledge.
Ability to understand the source code.
