Position overview: Equity Data Management is a part of the Data Technology & Services (DTS) group. The team provides solutions for the full lifecycle of data content management, including vendor procurement, quality analysis, system design, usability, and scalability. We cover a growing set of asset classes including equities, real estate, indices, and futures. Datatypes include, among others, market data (e.g., prices, market capitalization, listing information, fx-rates), fundamental data (e.g., Income statement, Balance Sheet, Cash flows, Forward estimates), and corporate actions (e.g., M&A and Dividends) Data Desk is a new function within Data management aiming to better control, coordinate, and accelerate the handling of requests for new equity data across MSCI. Responsibilities: Brainstorm with the team on developing data metrics to quantify coverage and quality for existing data. For data tests which have already been finalized build these in MATLAB and commit to common code base so that they can be reused E.g. You could be running reports on fundamental data of companies to assess data history availability, comparing data between various global data vendors (Reuters, Compustat, etc) and other reports to assess data quality Run data receipts (custom data audit) on data using tools like MATLAB, SQL, etc. Discuss results between team members and prepare effective summary of findings Prepare and deliver presentations to various project stakeholders and drive decision making through accurate recommendation Desired experience and qualifications: Have a Master Degree in Finance, Economics or Mathematics (Including equivalents of CA, CFA, FRM, MMS, MBA) 3+ years of relevant working experience with excellent written and oral communication skills. Are an independent worker who is able to drive certain parts of the work with minimal oversight Have strong interest in Finance, work experience in finance and capital markets Should have knowledge of SAS/MATLAB, SQL and EXCEL VBA and some form of exposure to application of statistical methods in analyzing data Have inclination to work on large data sets and come up with creative solutions on data mining Due to the great number of applications we receive for each of our open vacancies, we are unable to respond on an individual basis.
